Inspired by the Maasai people of northern Tanzania and southern Kenya, Serena Confalonieri’s Maasai collection includes vibrant, handmade, hand-painted vases and mirrors embellished with eco-leather. Confalonieri drew on the centuries-old material production of the Maasai, especially their distinctive use of bright colors and strong graphic forms in everything from masks and jewelry to body painting. She sees the collection as an homage, one she hopes will encourage others to appreciate ‘the beauty and the pride of this venerable culture’.
